VERMONT (NEWS CENTER) - Governor Paul LePage continues to raise eyebrows over his equating the Internal Revenue Service with Nazi Germany's Gestapo.
The governor explained his comments more today at a fundraising event for a fellow republican who is running for governor in Vermont.
Governor LePage was criticized by Jewish groups and others, earlier this week, after he said in a radio address that "after the Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Health Care Act -- Americans now have no choice but to get health insurance, or pay the new Gestapo, the IRS."
After today's event in Vermont was over, Governor LePage was interviewed by a reporter from an independent political blog called "Seven Days" who asked LePage if he still thought the IRS could truly be compared to the Gestapo.
