BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The University of Southern Maine officially has a new president. The board of trustees appointed Theodora Kalikow to take the place of Selma Botman, who drew criticism over her handling of executive pay raises a USM.
Kalikow has signed a two-year contract with the university.
Last week Botman announced she would be stepping down as president of the university.
Kalikow just retired a few days ago after eighteen years as president at UMaine-Farmington.
Chancellor James Page says these some of the changes aimed at making a better system of higher education.
