Those who know me well know I'm not exactly a fountain of compliments. (I justify this the way all uncomplimentary people do, by saying "but when I give one you know it's REALLY sincere". Truthfully that's like a lazy doctor saying "but when I have to amputate you know it's REALLY infected". But I digress) So for me to call today "the perfect summer day" took some convincing. But facts are facts. It's totally sunny, its dry, and it's warm enough without being hot.
The satellite picture right now is amazingly clean, not a single large area of clouds across the entire state. It's not the type of satellite picture you see much during the heart of summer, more like one you'd see on a classic fall day. A strong northwest wind is blowing in at 10-20 MPH, bringing in super-dry air from Canada and making it nearly impossible for clouds to develop. This will continue through the afternoon as temperatures push into the upper 70s and low 80s. Any complaints? I didn't think so.
Clear and quiet is the name of the game tonight. Winds will settle down and temperatures will drop into the low 50s in most spots with some upper 40s in the mountains.
Tuesday looks pleasant as well but there are a few changes to note. First of all there will be increased cloud cover with a weak upper level disturbance moving through. For most of the state that will amount to the difference between "Mostly Sunny" and "Sun & Clouds." Second, there is an isolated chance for a shower in the mountains in the afternoon. I don't foresee many of them but with that disturbance moving through it seems necessary to include in the forecast. Last but not least, the west wind will shift to the south allowing a sea breeze to develop by the afternoon. Still, it'll be nice, just not a 10/10 like today.
Back to mostly sunny skies for both Wednesday and Thursday as temperatures slowly trend from the upper 70s to mid 80s. Also, the humidity will slowly creep back into the area as well, although it certainly won't be oppressively muggy.
Ridging and heat builds for Friday and Saturday as much of the state pushes into the upper 80s. Due to this increase in temperature and newly sticky air I'm inclined to put pop up showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday in particular. Truth be told there's not much in the way for "forcing" to create these showers but I'm basing the forecast on my experience when it comes to high humidity, high temperature airmasses this time of year. (See, I'm like that Just for Men commercial. Experience AND youth. BTW. Am I the only one who finds that commercial inexplicably suggestive for a hair product?)
