ELLSWORTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two fire departments in the state are getting a little federal help to recruit and hire more firefighters.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has granted 234-thousand dollars to the Ellsworth Fire Department and 197-thousand to North Yarmouth.

The funding comes from the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response -- or SAFER -- grant money. It can also be used to retain current firefighters.
