EDMUNDS TOWNSHIP, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A missing Machias man who had spent two nights in his car and another two nights in an abandoned cabin after his car got stuck has been found alive by Maine Game Wardens.
The Warden Service says 51-year-old Robert Townsend had been reported missing since July 2nd. He was last seen driving his car on Dodge Rd. Whiting.
Game Wardens searched for Townsend Friday and found him within several hours after being told that he went missing earlier in the week.
Townsend told the Warden Service that he spent two nights in his car and left a note on the dashboard stating he didn't know where he was and was going to try to walk out of the woods. He said he then found an abandoned camp and spent the next two nights there.
The Warden Service returned Townsend to his family Friday night.
