AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - May 19th is National Armed Forces Day and all over the country biker groups are marking the occasion with a special commemorative ride.
Riders from Maine and New Hampshire took part in Maine's ceremony at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetary.
In it's third year, the ride has grown to include 32 states. Shadowed by Memorial Day just a week after, these bikers feel National Armed Forces Day is often left unnoticed.
The number of riders in this years ride exceeded the century mark.
"Myself, I'm a veteran. This is a big passion for me. It's something I really feel strong about," explains state ride coordinator Skip Brown, "I think the people that are coming back, most of them are veterans themselves. And I believe that they feel the same way I do. We're here for our veterans, we're here to help support them any way we can"
The Ride took them from Augusta to Arundel. The money raised from Saturday's ride went to help Maine's Homeless Veterans.
