DEDHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- An Ellsworth man has been charged with illegal dumping in the town of Dedham.
Maine Forest Rangers say 49-year-old Albert Dow, Jr., has been issued a summons for allegedly dumping trash on Lily Road. Rangers say a neighbor saw some suspicious activity and took down Dow's license plate number and vehicle description, which rangers used to track him down.
The Forest Service says the trash they found contained several old tires and pieces of lawn furniture.
"We are always pleased when citizens step up and provide information like this to us," Ranger Supervisor Jeff Currier said. "And we will use this information to do our best to track down illegal dumpers."
Dow is due in court in July. If convicted, he faces a minimum fine of $500, costs of cleanup, and potential suspension of his recreational licenses.
The Maine Forest Service urges people to report illegal dumping by calling them at 1-800-750-9777, or go to the "report violations link," on their website at maineforestservice.gov.
