OCEANSIDE, Calif. (NEWS CENTER) -- Former New England Patriots linebacker Junior Seau has apparently committed suicide -- according to TMZ.com.
The website is reporting that police believe he shot himself in the chest.
Seau was 43-years-old. He is survived by his ex-wife and their three children.
TMZ says police were called to Seau's home in San Diego County just after 10:00am PDT.
In 2010, Seau drove his car off a cliff after he was arrested on a domestic violence charge. He told police after the accident that he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
Picked in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft, Seau played with the San Diego Chargers for 13 years followed by a couple of years in Miami. He signed with New England in 2006 and played with the Patriots until 2010.
He was a 10 -time All-Pro and selected for the Pro Bowl 12 times.
