BOOTHBAY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - One man is dead after fire destroyed a home in Boothbay early Wednesday morning.

There is nothing left of the house.
Investigators and firefighters found the body as they searched through the rubble.
The chief says the victim is James Sprowl.
The fire was reported around 4:00 AM by a man on his way home from work.
The house was engulfed by the time firefighters arrived... And it turns out many of the firefighters knew James Sprowl.

"He was a nice guy, we went to school together. He was a quiet guy," says Boothbay Fire Chief Dick Spofford, "Like I say, we don't know what happened and because of all the damage we probably won't know the origin of the fire.

"There's so much damage."
