BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Two different Bangor pubs are looking to expand their breweries to produce more beer and keep up with demand.
Sea Dog Brewing Co. currently brews 12 beers and Geaghan's Restaurant & Pub brews four. Both pubs are looking to expand their breweries.
"This brewery will be brewing all of the beer that's for the Maine pubs. So Bangor, Topsham and South Portland. All those restaurants or brew pubs, this brewery will produce all those beers," Sea Dog General Manager Larry Killam said.
"We've found ourselves also in a scenario where in the coming months, in the summer months we're gonna be expanding the brewery operations as well to try and just keep up and none of us really think that, that's gonna be the last expansion of the brewery operations," Geaghan's Front of House Manager Andrew Geaghan said.
Sea Dog General Manager Larry Killam said once the renovation is complete the brewery will double in size and there will be a beer tasting area for people to come in and sample the different Sea Dog beers.
Killam said this is something Sea Dog has wanted to do for a while as a way to enhance their customers' experience.
"It'll be a totally different experience. This will be all about beer and our beer," Killam said.
Geaghan said expansion of its brewery is to keep up with demand.
"It's really hard for a business person to have people coming in and excited about your product and not have any of your product to sell them. And we don't do that often but we're running that line right now and this expansion will help us keep up," Geaghan said.
Geaghan said a new brew tank will be installed in July to help keep Geaghan's beer in supply. Both Killam and Geaghan said the will not change the layout of the restaurants in the pubs and more beers will be available and everyone will benefit.
