BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- In June, a seventh grader from Bangor will represent Maine in the National History Day competition but the girls family can't afford to send her all the way to Maryland where the competition will be held. Now they are asking for help to make the trip possible.
Thirteen year old Sydney McDonald won the Maine state History Day Competition. She is the first student from Bangor to win at a state level.
She will be representing Maine at a national competition in Maryland but the cost to make the trip to the national competition is more than two thousand dollars and Sydney's family can't afford to send her. That's why they are looking for help.
Right now Sydney has raised 225 dollars. The fee's to compete must be paid by May 15th.
