SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER/AP) -- President Barack Obama was in Maine Friday for a pair of fundraisers for his re-election campaign.
The president arrived late Friday afternoon at the Portland International Jetport, where he was greeted by Portland Mayor Michael Brennan.
His caravan then headed for Southern Maine Community College in South Portland. Later he attended another fundraiser at the Portland Museum of Art.
While Obama's was here, Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud of Maine is presenting him a gift.
Michaud picked up some made-in-Maine New Balance sneakers to underscore his effort to get the military to buy U.S.-made sneakers for military personnel engaged in physical training. Michaud says getting the Defense Department to buy Maine-made sneakers is consistent with the president's efforts to boost domestic manufacturing.
He left for Washington just before 8:30.
Before coming to Maine, Obama attended two similar campaign fundraisers in Vermont.
