RICH BROOKS ON MONEY SAVING APPS
The money saving apps Rich Brooks discussed include:
Any way to beat high gas prices?
- Gas buddy: Find the lowest gas prices around, or the nearest. You can search by regular, mid, premium or diesel. You can also view in list format or by map. Other options include bicycling, walking or public transportation.
Speaking of our automobiles, repairs can bring unexpected costs at the worst times. Is there an app that can help with that?
- RepairPal: Find a shop, get an estimate of what things SHOULD cost and what questions you should ask, and load in your own car so you can see the required/recommended maintenance. You can even get roadside assistance (for a fee.) What would have made this better is some tips on when I could have done some maintenance and repair work, and when do bring it into the shop.
Everyone's looking for deals these days. What apps are there for discounts, specials, etc?
- GeoQpons: Find deals and discounts locally by brand, category, etc. However, despite the fact I put in my zip, often the deals I was shown weren't in my area. What was cool is you could add any limited time coupon as an event on your phone so you wouldn't forget it.
- Groupon: Both for daily deals and for ongoing Getaways and Goods. Plus you can access your regular Groupon accounts and deals, too.
