PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Ever want to post something just your actual friends will see? Or post something that your co-workers will see that your family doesn't care about? There are two very easy ways to do that. Social Media Coordinator, Brett Whitmarsh explains how.

So why would we do this?

Well say you were planning a surprise party and didn't want someone to know? This is a great option. Or if it's something that only your family cares about then you can post it without your co-workers seeing it.

So what is the easiest way to do this?

Well the easiest way is right when you post a status update. Type your post and then choose right there who will see it. You can make it public where anyone can see it including people who you're not friends with, choose your friends, or you can customize it. On this window see right here, you can choose individual names that don't see this post. So if you want to keep it from just one person then this is the way to do it.

What if you want to make a post only your family or co-workers see?

Then you might want to make a list. I love lists. This is easy enough. Go to the list section on your home page. And generate a new list. Name the list whatever you like then just add names to it. I have one for co-workers, one for family and one for my friends from college. This way if I want to talk about subjects that will only matter to them, they are the ones to see it.

What if you want to change the lists later on?

You can edit those lists at any time. You can add to them or remove people.
