DIXFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --  At Hometown Energy in Dixfield things have settled down since 2 weeks ago.

The phones don't ring as much and there aren't as many letters coming in. Owner Ike Libby has even been able to get back out into his truck to make deliveries. Looking back it's been a whirlwind couple of weeks that he won't soon forget.

"Kind of makes you love America. I think it gets lost in the shuffle lots of time, how generous people are and when push comes to shove people stand up for each other. It's been amazing", Libby said.

He is talking about the outpouring of support he's received since an article appeared on the front page of the New York Times. It was a story about people struggling to heat their homes and how Libby helped out some customers who couldn't pay their bills.

"Its just been an amazing ride that we kinda got tossed onto and we're gonna try to do something good with it", he said.

Cards and letters, filled with donations, flooded in from across the country. To date those donations have topped 200-thousand dollars. That money will be put in a trust fund to help needy folks heat their homes.
