CINCINNATI, Ohio (WLWT) - A Cincinnati company is offering champagne, romance and a chance to join the Mile High Club for Valentine's Day.
Flamingo Air owner and pilot Dave MacDonald, who calls himself the
captain of the Love Amelia, said his company is offering couples a
romantic night in the sky -- where he promised to be oblivious in the
"We're the only company in the U.S. that does this as a business. We
don't bill it as the Mile High Club but as a romantic airplane ride,"
MacDonald and his wife said they introduced the concept to conservative Cincinnati more than two decades ago.
"My business put pizza on the table and gas in the tanks when everything else is running slow," MacDonald said.
The first liftoff dated back to 1991, and MacDonald said there have been many more since then.
"We did a blind date, and we've done several weddings in the plane," MacDonald said.
MacDonald said the cheeky ploy sometimes turns into a relationship litmus test.
Almost always, Flamingo Air said women purchase the ride, but they don't always have a co-pilot.
"We've had five men who refused to go on the flights, and
