WALDO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A petition is circulating in the town of Waldo, asking town leaders to repair dirt roads littered with potholes.
The man behind the petition, Pete Valenzon, has collected around 20 signatures from people living on East Waldo Road.
The petition says dirt roads in the town have been neglected, and are in a constant state of disrepair.
It goes on to ask town leaders to do whatever it takes to make the roads safer.
Valenzon says the state of the roads calls for a higher level of repair.
"We want to see the real gravel come in, or a better grade of stuff come in and build the road back up to where it's safe," said Valenzon.
It's a bumpy ride down East Waldo Road. Other roads, such as Bonne Terre Road, have potholes too.
Town selectmen Kathy Littlefield acknowledges the problem, but said it's typical for a dirt road in Maine in the winter.
Littlefield said town leaders always listen to concerns, but are limited by the size of the budget.
She said she can only permit so much work without raising taxes.
Valenzon plans to present his petition during the Waldo Town Hall meeting on March 24th.
