WATERVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER)--Colby College is cranking up the heat and going green at the same time.

The central heating plant on campus now has a biomass boiler that burns wood chips instead of oil.  The wood comes from local logging companies and is the school's way of boosting business in the area.

Officials expect to cut back on about a million gallons of heating oil a year which translates into big savings for Colby.

Officials at Colby College hope to see about 250 thousand dollars in savings every month.
