ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Junior forward Matt Mangene was named Hockey East's Player of the Week for his performance against Boston College on Friday and Saturday, while the entire squad earned Team of the Week honors from the conference.
Mangene scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Friday night, when the Black Bears beat the Eagles, 4-3. He also notched a hat trick in Saturday's 7-4 defeat of BC. Maine earned 4 Hockey East points from the sweep of the Eagles, who came to Orono ranked as high as 3rd in national polls.
The schedule won't ease up for the Black Bears. This week, they'll head to Boston University to face the Terriers, who sit alone on top of the Hockey East standings. BC and Merrimack are tied for 2nd, while Maine is one point behind in 4th place.
