Augusta, MAINE (NEWS CENTER) -- Some well known Maine businesses squared off Friday for a trophy, and more importantly bragging rights, to see who could construct the best ice fishing shack in the state.

When you think of Cianbro corporation you think of roads, bridges and other big time projects. But at the first ever "Battle of the Super Shacks", were Cianbro workers, giving it all they got, building an ice fishing shack.

A few feet away workers from Industrial Roofing Company were also carefully crafting one of their own.

Yes, they are just shacks, but the competition here is intense.

"This is serious business we don't mess around in the construction industry in Maine and we're having a great time building a shack using all of the skills of the trade we use every day."

Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine put on this contest as a way to showcase the work of some of its members.

"We thought this was really a fun way to be able to show what we do on a daily basis."

The builders were given six hours to put together the best shack that Maine has to offer. There were some minimum specifications such as two windows and a door. The rest was left up to the individual teams to put their own stamp on it.

"We called one judging category 'fishability'...how good can you fish out of it some would say. There's creativity, the design aspect, structural components of it."

To take that part of the judging it helped to have someone who knows there way around a frozen lake.

"I'm a semi-professional ice fisherman myself so I've been the consultant on the project and I've talked to some people too so we're having a lot of fun."

While all the teams want to win this competition the team from Industrial Roofing Company wants to at least have the shack with the best roof. So they're breaking out this secret weapon......a solar panel. Perfect for that cold day out on the lake.
