BELFAST, Maine (NEWS CENTER)--Construction is under way on the first four buildings of a Co-Housing community in Belfast.  Many of the people who'll be living there have been waiting for the chance to move in for half a decade.

The homes are designed to be highly energy efficient.  There will be a common house where residents will share meals and resources.

When it's completed the neighborhood may have more than fifty residents.

So far, 20 of the 36 homes in the community have been bought.  Contractors say the first nine units should be done by spring.  Officials with Co-Housing hold an open house the second Sunday of every month in Belfast.
