Dr. Peter McGuire founded the Oasis Health Care Network, providing "free quality medical care with dignity" to the uninsured adult population of the Greater Mid-Coast area, many of whom are working poor.

Founded in 1992, today Oasis sees over 1,700 patients annually, has its own office space and exam rooms, and in addition to acute care, provides specialty clinics for the management of chronic illness. A team of more than 100 medical and dental volunteers provide health care, dental care, laboratory and pharmaceutical services.

Dr. McGuire's vision, dedication, and perseverance leverages a $150,000 annual operating budget (coming entirely from local generosity) into well over $1.5 million in medical services. Dr. McGuire's care, concern, and courage have measurably improved the lives of thousands of men and women in the MidCoast region.
