LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Lewiston's Vet Center officially moved into a larger space this summer but on Friday Veterans and the public learned more about why the expansion was needed.
There are five Vet Centers in Maine from Caribou to Sanford. Their mission is to help Veterans and their families adjust to post-war life.
The new space, which is right next to the old space on Westminster Street in Lewiston, offers more meeting rooms. Group sessions have become very popular allowing Veterans to talk with each other about similar experiences, struggles and triumphs.
Right now 13 groups meet every week at the Vet Center in Lewiston.
Meanwhile not far from the center construction continues on the Togus Outpatient Care Facility. The facility should be open in the Spring.
