AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Seven military members traded in their camouflage for a day of spa treatments in Auburn.

Members of the Maine National Guard and army wives received complimentary manicures and haircuts thanks to a blog called 'The Real Cougar Woman'.  Linda Franklin, the author of the blog, started it to help women feel empowered.  Women who were serving in Afghanistan read the blog and contacted Franklin.  Now, Franklin is starting to travel around the country helping military women treat themselves to a day of beauty.

"It's harder to be home," Angela Baker, Staff Sgt., Army National Guard, said. "At least overseas you have structure.  If you're at home, it's complete chaos all the time, every day. So something like this today, I think it's truly amazing that someone can recognize that, so thank you."

Franklin hopes to initiate a year-long mentoring program to help women at every level of the military cope with transitions that come with deployments and homecomings.
