NORTH YARMOUTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A sweet crop is being harvested. Bee keepers report that honey season is just beginning. Prices are expected to be high as honey bee populations are low.
Stan Brown of North Yarmouth is believed to be Maine's oldest bee keeper. Stan is 92 and harvesting honey for the eigthieth time.
"The lighter color honey usually comes early," said Brown. Many people like to wait a little later in the year when the honey is a little darker.
One reason to buy honey early is because bee keepers sometimes run out as early as November.
