PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- It's a rare day when the Portland International Jetport lets people freely walk around the outside of a 757 on the runway. It's even more rare that they let them pull it with their bare hands.
On Saturday 19 teams of 25 people or so competed in the 7th annual MS Plane Pull. Those teams have all raised at least 1,000 dollars each for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
With the fuel onboard the plane is said to weigh 62 and a half tons and the teams had to pull it 12 feet. The sweat and tears shed in this epic tug-of-war will help many people with MS so says Sue Tidd of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. "We are here to raise $25,000 today. Where the money helps provide programs and services to the people in Maine and the greater New England area that have MS. Everything from financial assistance to in-home support services and plus a significant amount goes toward finding a cure. We want to end MS forever," said Tidd at the event Saturday.
