HOLLIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the violent assault of his girlfriend and another man. The assault turned into a shooting.

State police say 30-year-old Ryan Gilliken assaulted his girlfriend, 32-year-old Andria Richardson outside the home they share together on River Road around 8:30 p.m.

Gilliken also allegedly assaulted 30-year-old Joshua Weldon, who rents an apartment on the property. However, it was Weldon who fired shots from his handgun to help Richardson in the assault. Those shots wounded Richardson in the stomach and leg.

No charges will be filed against Weldon.

Richardson was undergoing surgery as of late Tuesday night at Maine Medical Center and is expected to recover.

Police say Richardson's three young children were also home at the time of the shooting. They are currently with relatives.
