Brewer convenience store sells winning lotto ticket

BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- A convenience store in Brewer sold a winning lottery ticket last week- now they're getting their own jackpot.

The Big Apple on South Main Street in Brewer sold a winning Tri-State Megabucks ticket worth $3.1 million. The winning ticket was drawn on July 19th and all six of the numbers on the ticket sold at the store were a match. Now the store will receive a $30,000 bonus. Employees of the store say the owner of the ticket is a regular customer who was just as shocked as them when they found out the exciting news.

"I go 'somebody hit the lottery from my store.' I said 'didn't I sell you one yesterday?' And he said yeah. So I read the numbers to him and he goes 'I think I got some of those numbers.' So I checked his ticket I said and sure enough you got it! And he was like... just shocked!" said Karen Patchell, an employee at the Big Apple.

The store couldn't reveal who the winning ticket belonged but did say a group of regulars went in on the purchase together. As for the Brewer Big Apple's $30,000 bonus, the employees aren't sure what they'll be spending the money on yet but plan on using it toward making their store an even better business.
