LINCOLN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- It's that time of year, when the air turns chilly, and what better way to warm up than a nice hot meal? Audry Amann fires it up this week with the Lincoln Fire Department, making ground turkey casserole.
You'll need:
1 green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 lb. ground turkey
1/2 t. black pepper
1/2 t. oregano
1/2 t. garlic powder
1, 16 oz. can tomato sauce
2 c. water
1 c. mushrooms
8 oz. pasta (shells, macaroni)
8 oz. grated cheese (cheddar, mozarella)
Brown turkey with green pepper and onion. Mix in seasonings, tomato sauce, water and mushrooms. Simmer for 15 minutes. Spoon small amount of sauce into a greased 9x13" pan to cover the bottom. Top with *uncooked* pasta. Cover with remaining sauce and top with cheese. Cover with foil and bake at 350* for about 25 minutes. Let stand a few minutes before cutting.
