ELLSWORTH (NEWS CENTER) -- Kevin Stradley of the Ellsworth Fire Department shares his cheeseburger subs recipe on this edition of Fire It Up!
Ingredients:
1.5 lbs Ground Hamburg (Pork and Veal make good substitutions)
2 Onions, chopped
Seasoning mix of: seasoning salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and chili powder
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
1/4 cup Bread Crumbs
Worcestershire Sauce, to taste
Hot Sauce, to taste
1/4 c Ranch Dressing
Sub Rolls
Cheese Slices
Directions:
Saute onions until translucent and set aside.
Mix in seasoning with burger and pour the BBQ sauce over it. Add the bread crumbs and keep mixing (this is your binder for the meat.) Finish by adding worcestershire sauce to taste.
Take a handful of meat and ball it up. Then flatten it into an oblong shape and cook on the flat side of a griddle. Keep balling up the hamburg into as many patties as it will make.
In a separate bowl, mix together hot sauce and ranch dressing.
Cut sub rolls in half and place face down on griddle to toast.
Add a slice of cheese to each patty and top with onions. Place in roll and enjoy!
