Oooh-lots of ones and twos. Here we go again!
Seth and Alex were home and the X-Games are coming up so it was a great chance to get together and see what they are up to. It's interesting to hear the differences in perspective between the second oldest guy on the tour and the second youngest! I'm hoping Alex makes a break through performance and gets on the podium soon. (Due to rights restrictions, we can't post this story, so be sure to watch it on TV).
Eliot Cutler. He's and interesting and capable guy. He's very formidable. Everyone analyzes why he lost. I think it's because he wasn't able to make the electorate feel like it/they knew him. This piece attempts to focus on his life's direction and how he came to do what he did. I'm pretty sure he'll run again. I'm pretty sure Paul LePage will run again. You throw in an emerging Democrat and you once again get a very close race.
Will LePage be able to pick up some of Eliot's voters? Will Eliot be able to pick up a few of LePage's. Will the Democratic nominee whittle away at one or both? Libby Mitchell got only 19% of the vote. These are interesting times!
The archive piece is with Sherri Emery who has made the US Junior Skeleton Team. Skeleton is the sliding sport which you do on a sled, belly down and face first! Competitors go 80 miles an hour. Sherri is a Gray-New Gloucester graduate who took up the sport after watching the Olympics on TV. We look forward to following her career!
We have a new series of quarters coming out this summer. It will feature Federal Lands. Maine's will feature Bass Harbor Head Light at the southern tip of Acadia National Park. I think it's a handsome design. I'm looking forward to seeing the coin. We did this piece in an attempt to educate ourselves and our audience about that quarter before summer comes, so when the tourists arrive, we'll know all about it!
Thanks for watching. We're heading into the statistically coldest week of the year.
