MANCHESTER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Manchester man discovered an unusual artifact while commercial fishing. Now he's seeking help to find out just what this skull is.
It looks like a skull. It was found in about 1800 feet (300 fathoms) of water. "At first, my brother in law wanted to throw it over," Tony Richardson told NEWS CENTER. "I said, 'No. It's a strange looking thing.' I collect odd things, so I decided to keep it."
The skull seems to be that of a bottom dweller with fins on the side and top of its head. It has a lateral hole beneath the top half of the skull which could allow water to pass through gills.
Mr. Richardson has left it in his garage for about fifteen years. It emits a brown liquid constantly. He is surprised that no varmint has ever gone near it. "I expected the flies or you know, something to hit on it, mice or something," Mr. Richardson said.

Some have suggested that it is a munk fish, an ancient pod, a discarded land animal or even an alien from another planet.
