Man camping on rooftop needs $30K to come down

Strive rooftop fundraiser still $20,000 short

SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — After five days of camping out on the roof of Patriot Subaru, Kevin Fitzpatrick could be up there a while longer, unless he gets some serious help.

For three years, Fitzpatrick has been raising money for Strive U, which works with teenagers with disabilities.

Fitzpatrick takes time off from his job at UPS and roughs it alone until he meets his goal.

This year, it's going to cost $30,000 to bring him down, and he's only a third of the way there.

"Organizations like Strive literally can't go on day-to-day without one fundraiser to the next, so when you start something as silly as getting on the roof to raise money, it really becomes part of its budget, " said Fitzpatrick. "So year after year, if we don't do it, you have to find a way to fill that gap and I'm certainly happy to do my part."

There are prizes available to those who donate. Click here for more information.
