BATH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - While the Black Friday crowds battle in the big boxes and malls, Maine downtowns are all dressed up and ready to begin their Christmas shopping season.
In downtown Bath, some holiday shoppers were making early visits to shops along Front Street, even as the last bow was tied on the landmark Hallet's Drug Store clock.
Ringing his bell for the Salvation Army in front of Reny's, Jeff Dunphy was looking a bit like Santa Claus on his day off.
One store owner said the past few years have had busy holiday seasons for the local stores, and they're hoping this one will be just as good.
Bath celebrates with Santa's arrival on Saturday.
