The mission of United Way of Greater Portland is to improve people's lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities. Nowhere is that caring power more visible than through the work of dedicated volunteers. Volunteers make a difference every day in Greater Portland by raising funds, making key decisions, lending diverse talents, and directly assisting our neighbors in need. Volunteers time is an invaluable resource that helps keep overhead costs low, so that funds can directly support key programs and initiatives that improve lives and strengthen communities.
Since 2000, United Way of Greater Portland has proudly partnered with WCSH 6 and TD Bank for the 6 Who Care Awards. 6 Who Care is a truly unique event that celebrates the power of volunteerism and recognizes people who exemplify it in our community.
TD Bank is committed to making a meaningful and positive contribution to the individuals, families, businesses and communities within our marketplace and we encourage our employees to volunteer and contribute to local organizations. This community spirit and involvement embodies the very core of our corporate citizenship philosophy: Making a Difference Together.
TD Bank employees, our greatest asset, exemplify our corporate objectives and philosophy of "giving back" to those we serve. Each year, they donate more than 250,000 volunteer hours serving on boards, working in schools, and supporting local non-profit organizations in a wide variety of ways. Some of the associations we support include the United Way, March of Dimes, Special Olympics and Junior Achievement.
TD Bank would like to extend thanks to the many individuals who donate their energy and time so generously to help others. We are proud to partner with WCSH 6 and United Way of Greater Portland to offer 6 Who Care.
