SANFORD (NEWS CENTER) -- The Cancer Care Center of York County opened it's doors three and a half years ago.

(NEWS CENTER) -- Jeni Lloyd has had a tough year. In the first three months, she lost two close friends and her father to cancer. As tough as it's been, she says unfortunately, this is something that has become all too familiar to her.
"In our area, ultimately if you have not been touched by cancer, you will be," she said. She quotes experts who say Maine has the highest rate of cancer in the country.
Lloyd was diagnosed four years ago, at the age of 39, with Stage 2-B, Her2 positive breast cancer. She recieved treatment at Eastern Maine Medical Center's CancerCare of Maine.
Sunday, September 13, Lloyd will be honored the Terry Fox award at the annual Run for Hope race. The race raises money for CancerCare of Maine.
