Annual NAMI walk for mental illness awareness

14th Annual NAMI Walk

(NEWS CENTER) -- NAMI Maine is the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The organization aims to provide support and awareness for everyone affected .


This mission is achieved by:

  • Offering compassion and supportive services

  • Advocating for improved access and quality of services

  • Providing education about disorders and resources for support

  • Raising public awareness by promoting understanding

  • Communicating the importance of peer support and lived experience

  • Training volunteers and professionals throughout the state

  • Fostering a statewide network of affiliates and support group

Next weekend, on September 25th, the annual NAMI walk will take place starting in South Portland at the Spring Pointe Ledge Lighthouse. Registration starts at 9:00 am and the Walk kicks off at 11. The event is open to everyone and is free, but fundraising or donations are welcome!
