100-year-old Orland woman receives special birthday gift from Tom Brady

ELLSWORTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — An Orland woman recently celebrated her 100th birthday, and although a wish to meet her favorite football player didn't come true, she got the next best thing.

Back in July, NEWS CENTER learned about Frances "Fran" Bray's simple request to enjoy her century-anniversary on Earth: meeting, in her mind, the best quarterback on Earth, New England Patriots' Tom Brady.

"I'd love to shake hands with him," Bray said on July 25. "That would be one of my biggest wishes."

Bray's son, Ed Maguire, said his mother cuts out every article in the newspaper after the games to make sure she isn't missing anything, and even keeps photos of Brady on her nightstand, saying good morning and good night every day — a routine she says helps her sleep better at night.

When Fran Bray turned 100 last Monday, she received an autographed picture of Brady and a letter from the entire Patriots team. It wasn't the four-time Super Bowl champion visiting in-person, but for Maine's biggest Brady fan, it was still a very exciting moment and one she'll likely never forget.

Seaport Village Healthcare, Bray's residence, posted these photos of Fran on Saturday:
