Winterstick snowboards to be made at Sugarloaf

Seth Wescott brings snowboard biz to Maine

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Winterstick is the oldest snowboard company having been founded by Dimitrije Milovich in 1972.  It has always focused on back country snowboarding.

Seth Wescott joined the ownership group a couple of years ago and has become the chief designer.  Now they are moving the production of the snowboards to the east.  The manufacturing will be done on Wescott's home mountain Sugarloaf with a chair lift running out the back of their facility.

The company expects to be producing boards in a few weeks with four people on the production team.

Winterstick had fallen on hard times in recent years and this is an effort to invigorate the brand.

The company will be using locally produced poplar in the manufacture of their boards.
