Who was Lizzie Bourne, and why do crowd funding to clean her portrait?

BG's ME: Lizzie Bourne and a perilous climb

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Who cares enough about Lizzie Bourne's portrait that they would do a crowd funding to raise money to clean it? The Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk, that's who, or what.

Lizzie was a deb in that fair city way back in 1855. Her dashing Uncle George decided to lead her and his daughter up Mt. Washington for an overnight and to watch the sunrise.

Here is the story of an ill-fated trip. A marker just below the summit marks where Lizzie succumbed.

The Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk is doing a crowd-funding program to raise money to restore Lizzie's portrait.
