Colbert Report spoofs LePage's immigration response

NEW YORK, New York (NEWS CENTER) -- The Colbert Report featured a section on the "Housing Crisis for Immigrant Children" Wednesday night and made fun of Gov. Paul LePage's response to the eight children placed in Maine.

"Out of the 52,000 children in federal custody, Uncle Sam is unfairly saddling Maine with a whopping eight of them," said Stephen Colbert.

Gov. LePage learned this fact while on a call with the White House, and immediately released a statement.

"'We cannot become a state that encourages illegal immigration. We simply cannot afford it,'" said Stephen Colbert, quoting Gov. LePage

Colbert mocked the fact that eight children are throwing Maine, the "state of plastic bibs," into a financial crisis.

"Do you know what that means? That means when Maine goes out to dinner they will automatically be charged with the 15 percent gratuity for parties of eight or more," joked Colbert.

Gov. LePage has not released a response to Colbert's jokes.
