Feed Maine: One Bristol woman making a difference
(NEWS CENTER)-- The growing problem of food insecurity in our state is not going away. It affects 1-in-6 adults and 1 in every 5 children. There is a woman in Bristol who has made it her mission to do her part to make sure no kids in her community go hungry. Her name is Jenny Pendleton and she started up 'Caring For Kids'.
"I was very young on my own and supporting myself, going to school, had my own apartment, so I had to visit a food pantry myself several times, to make it through. When you've been through something in your life you want to give back, and you know I think you just set a goal that when you can give back you do" said Pendleton.
It's our goal at NEWS CENTER to raise one million meals for Mainers through our Feed Maine program. To learn about how you can help, just go to http://WWW.FEEDMAINE.COM We will shine a light on the topic of food insecurity with new Feed Maine stories on the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
