Brides Against Breast Cancer comes to Portland
PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- There are myriad fundraisers for breast cancer in Maine, but this one is unusual.
For the first time Brides Against Breast Cancer is coming to Portland. It offers a way for those who've said I do, and those getting ready to take the plunge, to support the cause and save some money at the same time.
Brides Against Breast Cancer trucks travel the country, putting on pop-up boutique style wedding shows. The wedding gowns it has for sale have been donated, either by shops and designers, or by women who want someone else to be able to wear their gown. The gowns are discounted 25%-85%, and 80% of the money raised goes to run the non-profit Health Support Network.org which offer it's education, exercise, stress reduction, and nutritional programs on-line free of charge to people impacted by cancer.
The shows include wedding accessories, local vendors and volunteers. There are people there to advise you on whether and how much a gown can be altered to fit a certain size. A layaway plan is also available.
The sizes are from 4-18 and the prices range from $99 to a couple thousand.
The Brides Against Breast Cancer Charity sale and Truck Show is Sunday January 25th on the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel on High Street. Click on the link for more information on tickets and times.
