BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) —  A woman shopping at a department store with her daughter in Bangor told police she met a "bad Santa".

According to the Bangor Police Facebook page, a Santa walked up to the woman and her child and gave her daughter a candy-cane while they were shopping.

A short while later, the mother and daughter duo saw the same Santa. This time he looked at them and said, "Good girls get candy, naughty girls get jewelry."

Police say the mother immediately complained to a store manager only to find that the department store had not hired a Santa.

In a tongue-in-cheek post on social media, that the Bangor Police are known for, they say they have no leads as to who the naughty Santa impersonator is but they are encouraging him to "do the right thing; put yourself on the naughty list and stop by to speak to us."
